Loving cup on platform base. My first loving cup in this style, as part of my degree work. Earthenware with lead glaze coloured with metal oxides. 2000. Paul Bohanna.
The moulded rim with symbols inspired by prehistoric rock art, which I modelled into 3D. The symbol is believed to represent two people, one on top of the other, copulating. The sun and moon were added to suggest day and night.
Love stands on a pedestal (elevated love). The handles form a butterflies wings (wings of love).
